French Experts Visit Ministry of DefenseCHISINAU, December 6, 2011 — A group of building experts from France will be visiting the Ministry of Defense during December Col. Gerard Lauhay and Capt. Mathieu Colombel came to Chisinau to support Moldovan military experts in the development of a technical draft of an ammunition warehouse in compliance with the international requirements, that is to be built at Bulboaca Military Training Ground. The warehouse would be intended for storing National Army ammunition. According to Maj. Andrei Camerzan, Deputy Chief of Weapons Directorate, such a warehouse is quite necessary for the existing ones are too close to the barracks, which is considered to be a violation of international norms regarding the secure distance for soldiers, especially within multinational exercises. The building of a new ammunition storage warehouse is part of a Memorandum concluded by the Ministry of Defense and the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova on the implementation of the Complex Program on Small Caliber and Light Weaponry, concluded October 2010. The document also includes seven separate projects, including the renovation of the ammunition storage warehouses from Floresti, Cahul, Balti and Chisinau, disposal of different kind of bombs, as well as the purchase of an ammunition visual control system. The program also provides a few training courses on ammunition technical management matters. |
