Servicemen “Assaulted” by Children



CHISINAU, April 19, 2012 — The children of Boarding School No.2 from Chisinau visited Stefan cel Mare Brigade today, April 19, where they had great surprises prepared by the National Army servicemen.

Nearly 40 children of 5 to 16 years old had the possibility to familiarize with the military life and activity, training conditions, military technical equipment of the unit. The children also played a football match with the servicemen. At the end, they had the soldier’s lunch and received sweets and fruits.

The commander of Stefan cel Mare Brigade, Col. Ion Dotenco, welcomed the little visitors on the territory of the unit. “We decided to make friendship with Boarding School No.2. We organized a very interesting program for them. The servicemen will tell them who we are, what we do and what our mission is. We intend to establish a long cooperation with this institution. We are happy to see these children smile. We will do our best to make good surprises both on holidays and on their regular days”, Col. Dotenco stated.

Maria Gruian, educator at Boarding School No.2, thanked for the organization of the event specifying such activities are very good for children. “They have seen such equipment only in movies and photos. The pupils are very curious to know more about the army, especially because we have many boys that would definitely do their service when they grow up”.

Asked what he liked in the military unit, the 13-year-old pupil Ion Cazacu said, “I was surprised by the rooms where servicemen pass their trainings, the weapons of the unit, as well as the delicious soldier’s lunch. I also liked playing football with real officers! This is my first time in a military unit. I would like to see how servicemen train, find out more about their life, because I would like to do the military service too”!

This week, the servicemen of the General Inspection Directorate brought sweets and toys to the children of the Boarding School from Cahul which they starting supporting in 2003. There are about 300 deaf children aged 7 to 18 years old studying at this institution. Headmistress Olga Apostu thanked the National Army servicemen for coming each year on holidays to make children smile.

At the same time, the servicemen of Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy offered school supplies, cakes, sweets, toys and a variety of other useful staff for the children host by “Preafericitul Iosif” Children’s Care House of Hincu Monastery from Chisinau.
