Defense Attaches at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, April 26, 2012 — Brigadier Gen. Vitalie Stoian, Interim Chief of Main Staff, Commander of the National Army, met, Thursday, April 26, at the Ministry of Defense, with a delegation of foreign defense officials accredited in the Republic of Moldova based in Kiev, Ukraine.

During the meeting, Gen. Stoian informed the six defense attaches, representatives of the Defense Ministries of Austria, Canada, Hungary, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Sweden and Great Britain, about the defense reform process in the Republic of Moldova, development of military cooperation in the educational and peacekeeping areas.

The talks also focused on some joint projects such as: expired ammunition disposal, packaging, maintaining and destruction of dangerous pesticides, carried out with the partner countries. Thus, Gen. Stoian thanked the guests for the assistance provided to our country that definitely contributes to the development and modernization of the Moldovan military institution.

The defense attaches appreciated the reform process of the Moldovan army and confirmed their countries’ interest to keep supporting the National Army.

The defense attaches also visited the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, where they familiarized with the equipment and technical staff of the unit.
