International Conference on Regional Security

CHISINAU, May 17, 2012 — The Center for Defense and Security Strategic Studies of Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy organized Thursday, May 17, the international scientific and practical conference “Republic of Moldova in the context of the new regional security architecture” — 2012 edition.

The meeting brought together security and defense experts from Romania, Ukraine and Republic of Moldova, professors of the Military Academy and mass-media representatives.

Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, Commander of the Land Force Command, appreciated the organization of the scientific conference on regional security. “Such events are very useful for each participant has the possibility to express his opinion about the issues discussed”, Gen. Cutie stated.

The participants presented a few scientific reports on the security and defense issue at the international level. They also discussed some options of security for the Republic of Moldova, significance of the neutrality statute in term of the new regional security architecture, the problem of imminent threats to national security system, referring to state institutions, foreign affairs and internal policy, with a direct focus on the national military sector.

Both the participants from the country and the guests from abroad supported the idea that theories, scientific research related to strengthening national security may be carried out only through the joint efforts of the academic and scientific staff at the national level, as well as through a high level of cooperation among the institutions of higher education from the Republic of Moldova, institutions in charge of these issues, as well as decision-make factors.

At the end, the experts debated the reports, exchanged ideas and presented the latest results of the research in the security and defense area, contemporary military phenomenon, as well as other issues.

The international scientific and practical conference “Republic of Moldova in the context of the new regional security architecture” is a yearly event hosted by Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy.
