Peacekeepers Win Military Patrol Competition



CHISINAU, May 23, 2012 — The team of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion won the Military Patrol National Army Commander’s Cup held Wednesday, May 23, at Bulboaca Military Training Site.

The 22nd Battalion peacekeepers were followed by Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy team and the Artillery Division that won the second and third places.

According to LTC Vasile Olednic, Chief of National Army Sports and Physical Training Service, the competition brought together 12 teams consisting of five servicemen each. They competed at crossing the psychological obstacle course, a contaminated peace of land, throwing hand grenades, shooting and field orientation techniques.

Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, Commander of the Land Force Command, who attended the event, was satisfied with the organization of the competition and the participants’ performances. Gen. Cutie stated their success proves the fact such competition should continue in the National Army, for they reveal the servicemen physical force and capabilities.

The third edition of the Military Patrol Competition was organized by J7 Doctrine and Training Division as part of the 2012-2013 Activity Plan of the National Army Main Staff.

The Military Patrol is a military sports competition for conscripts and servicemen designed to improve theoretical and practical capabilities of the military staff in shooting, tactical and physical training.
