Minister of Defense Goes to China


Chisinau, September 10, 2012 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuţa pays an official visit to the People’s Republic of China September 10-15, at the invitation of his counterpart Liang Guanglie.

During the meetings with Chinese officials, the parties will discuss about some aspects of cooperation between the two armies, mainly focusing on the military education and technical assistance. According to the chief of the international cooperation division of the Ministry of Defense, Vitalie State, the talks will also focus on regional and international security issue.

While in China, Vitalie Marinuta will visit Shanghai and Shaanxi military districts, the Peacekeeping Training Center, as well as the Defense College of the National Defense University. In Beijing, Vitalie Marinuta will lay a wreath of flowers at the National Heroes’ Monument.

The Moldovan-Chinese defense cooperation is based on the agreement concluded by the two defense ministries June 23, 2002. So far, the People’s Republic provided the National Army with non-reimbursable aid of over 30 million MDL including computers, medical equipment, means of transport and others.
