The Minister of Defensehad a meeting with the military attaches



Chisinau, 20 December 2012 — the Minister of Defence, Vitalie Marinuţa, and National Army Corps Command had a meeting with the military attaches accredited in the Republic of Moldova.

Vitalie Marinuţa has informed about the achievements of strategic objectives of the National Army in 2012 and the priorities for the next year, pointing out that an important role in the materialization of these objectives was the amplification of cooperation relations in the field of Defense with foreign partners. “The support of our partners represent a significant contribution in the process of military reform and I am confident that we will be able to identify the necessary mechanisms for a more dynamic cooperation in the future,” said the Minister.

Vitalie Marinuţa asserted that the Ministry of Defence is concerned with consolidating and developing bilateral military relations, which is an important part of interstate cooperation. "National Army is motivated by enhancing interoperability with the armed forces of Western countries and participation in international peacekeeping operations. Furthermore, this year a company of 22 Peacekeeping Battalion and a group of engineers have been certified by international experts to participate in peacekeeping missions, "he also mentined.

At the end of the meeting, a group of folk music, led by Valentina Osoianu, sang some Christmas carols for the military diplomats.

The Military attaches tour is organized by the Ministry of Defence annually. The event aims to familiarize the military attaches body with the state of development of the National Army.

Currently, 24 military attaches are accredited in the Republic of Moldova, and bilateral military cooperation is reflected in programs of material and technical assistance, consultancy , as well as training Moldovan officers in military educational institutions abroad.
