Book Launch at the Center of Military History and Culture

Chisinau, February 21, 2013 — The book “Corruption and Integrity Improvement in the Armed Forces” translated from English by Viorel Cibotaru, has been launched today at the Center of Military History and Culture.

The book was printed at ARC Printing House. The launching event, organized by the Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces and the European Institute for Political Studies in Republic of Moldova (EIPSM), brought together leaders of the National Army and representatives of other force institutions from the Republic of Moldova.

Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta said the translation of this book into Romania is a good advantage for revealing the best practices of combating corruption phenomenon in other countries.

“Although the National Army has no major discrepancies in this context due to the fact we promote intolerance for corruption, I call all service members to read the book, learn and apply into practice the experience described by the authors. The content of this book focuses both on issues of fighting corruption in the defense area and practical tools of combating corruption in general”, Vitalie Marinuta said.

The book of model practices “Corruption and Integrity Improvement in the Armed Forces” provides national and international experience in decreasing the risks of corruption in the defense area. The content of the book concludes that the most successful measures to combat corruption and improve defense integrity may be implemented within a more durable reform process.

The book was published as part of the Euroatlantic Partnership and Partnership for Peace Program, carried out under the auspices of the NATO International Secretariat and participating member states.
