Defense Minister Meets with Dniester War Participants

Chisinau, February 22, 2013 — We must keep those who did not come back from war in our heart, take care of those who have got injuries of body and soul and educate our young generation to value the sacrifice of these people for independence, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta said during the meeting with the active-duty and retired service members, participants in the 1991-1992 war, as well as the widows who lost their husbands during that period of time.

On the eve of the Memory Day, March 2, Vitalie Marinuta offered widows of 1992 war heroes money stating that this support is a tribute of gratitude to the wives and children of those who sacrificed their life doing their military duty, as the military oath says.

The Defense Minister also awarded certificates of appreciation and money to active-duty and retired service members, participants in the 1991-1992 war. “Never forget that the history of the Republic of Moldova cannot be learned from books. We learn the history of our country from you, those who represent the courage, bravery and honor of this nation”, the Minister of Defense said.

89 service members participated in the 1991-1992 war. 13 of them are active duty.
