Tribute to Women in the National Army

Chisinau, March 6, 2013 — Women have a special place in the National Army, for their proved to be a model of commitment, courage and excellent execution of military and civil service, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinut said on the International Women’s Day.

Vitalie Marinuta congratulated military and civilian women and thanked them for having chosen the hardest, but the most honorable jobs — the one of homeland defender, where only the strongest resist. “For many years, you have supported the modernization process of the National Army and today we are proud of all of you and your efforts in this context”, Vitalie Marinuta said.

The Defense Minister awarded diplomas of honor and gifts to a group of women. Moreover, for high performance, military and civil women of the National Army were offered money.

The same day, a concert was held at the Center of Military Culture and History with the performance of presidential orchestra, Doina Armatei Band, National Army vocal-instrumental band, as well as famous singers from Moldova.

Women currently cover 22 percent of the National Army personnel.
