National Army EOD Engineer Blow Up Nine Explosive Devices


CHISINAU, March 11, 2013 — National Army blew up nine explosive devices in Hincesti, Ialoveni, Anenii Noi and Calarasi districts in the first ten days of March.

LTC Mihail Semionov, Head of EOD Engineering Division of the National Army, during this period of time, combat engineers carried out seven demining missions. They checked the territory, neutralized, demined and destroyed grenades, artillery projectiles, bomb thrower mines and a 25-kg air bomb dating back to Second World War.

The source said that the latest EOD discoveries were a bomb thrower device of 320 mm caliber, a RG 42 hand grenade and an anti-tank grenade discovered in the Security Area on the territory of sand ad clay pits in Puhaceni village, Anenii Noi. These devices were demined and destroyed by the demining team of Codru EOD Battalion.

This year, the National Army EOD engineers carried out 13 demining missions and liquidated 37 explosive objects all over the country.
