Brigade “Moldova” Celebrates 21st Anniversary



CHISINAU, April 12, 2013 — Chief of National Army Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen.Vitalie Stoian, attended the 21st anniversary ceremony of Brigade “Moldova” from Balti.

The Commander of the National Army congratulated the unit and appreciated the mastership and dedication in carrying out missions. “Throughout 21 years of activity, you managed to record remarkable progress in terms of training, combat training, respect for military discipline, creating appropriate accommodation, food and equipment conditions to civilian and military personnel of the Brigade. For all these achievements, you deserve our respect”, the Chief of the Main Staff said.

For outstanding achievements in the performance service, Brigadier Gen.Stoian awarded servicemembers the medals “Service of Motherland”, class I, and the medal “For outstanding service in the National Army”, class I and III, as well as diplomas of honor on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and Main Staff.

Gen. Stoian thanked the servicemembers’families for support and trust. “The success of the Brigade soldiers in peacekeeping forces in the Security Zone of Republic of Moldova, in the preventing crisis situations, as well as natural disaster relief in our country, is mostly due to the military, who care about their country’s and families’ peace and well-being, to whom we are grateful for responsiveness and understanding”, the National Army Commabder specified.

In his turn, the Commander of Brigade “Moldova”, Col. Valeriu Chilaru said that, throughout 21 years of activity, his unit contributed by all means to promoting the image of National Army in the country and abroad. “Our soldiers have an important role in peacekeeping at the national level — through participation in the peacekeeping mission in the Security Zone of the Republic of Moldova — as well at the international level, through achievements in multinational exercises Ukraine, Romania and Germany,” Col. Chilaru said.

The event was attended by representatives of local authorities, leaders of the National Army, former commanders and veterans of Brigade “Moldova”, servicemembers and conscripts, their families and relatives.

During the ceremony, the guests watched a program of instrumental music — presented by the Brigade orchestra — and familiarized with the technical equipment and weapons of the unit.

Brigade “Moldova” from Balti was created on April 10, 1992.
