Special Forces Paratroopers Make Parachute Jumps

Chisinau, April 13, 2013 — National Army Special Forces made parachute jumps within April 10-12 at Airbase “Decebal” from Marculesti.

According to Commander of Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”, LTC Radu Burduja, 30 servicemembers of the unit made free-fall jumps from an airplane flying with 110-130 km/h speed at altitudes of 3,000 m and 1,200 m.

LTC Burduja said the airborne training aims at improving operational capability of the unit by practicing infiltration into the enemy’s rear by air. “To improve the training process and raise the servicemembers’ readiness, we held meetings, familiarization visits and multinational exercises, especially with the USA. Moreover, in this period of time, we trained the unit paratrooper instructors very hard to ensure the high quality of qualification jumps”, Burduja said.

This week, Special Forces Battalion "Fulger"’ paratroopers made 83 jumps using MC-5 parachute systems made in USA.
