National Army Destroys Obsolete Air BombsChisinau, May 23, 2013 — Military Training Ground “Bulboaca” hosts the Project on National Army Obsolete Ammunition Disposal, carried out with the financial support of ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross). According to this project, 50 tons of OFAB-250 air bombs and other kind of ammunition will be destroyed through breakdown method. According to Col. Andrei Sarban, Deputy Chief of National Army Main Staff on Resource Management, the method is pretty secure and has minimum impact on environment. Moreover, it helps saving the explosive material of the National Army. The quoted source specified that the project is estimated at about 30 thousand Euros and it will end in September 2013. The personnel in charge of ammunition disposal have been trained in this field. The project is based on the Memorandum of Agreement on National Army obsolete ammunition disposal signed by the Defense Ministry and ICRC on April 24.
