Press Cup 2013 Announces Winners



CHISINAU, June 3, 2013 — Over 20 representatives of mass-media institutions of the country attended today Press Cup 2013, held at Bulboaca Military Training Ground.

The competition was held by the Public Affairs Service of the Ministry of Defense, in partnering with the Joint Training and Doctrine Division of Main Staff, on the 21st anniversary of “Oastea Moldovei” publication. The competition brought together reporters, cameramen, photographers and drivers of radio, TV and print media organizations. Prior the event, they had to fill out the participants’ forms.

The participants competed at the following: shooting AK 74 gun, assembling and disassembling AK 74 gun and throwing grenade.

The winners of the contest were awarded medals, diplomas and gifts. The winner of the first place got military rucksacks, the second place — small infantry paddles and a military T-shirts, and the third place — bota bags and military T-shirts. All the prizes were offered by the Logistics Command of the National Army.

Defense Minister Vitalie Marinuta congratulated participants on performances recorded during the competition and wished them high professional achievements in future.

According to Minister of Defense, Press Cup is an event designed for journalists from Republic of Moldova. The main goal of the event is to enhance cooperation between Ministry of Defense and media institutions, develop military skills and individual performances, identify and encourage the most skillful mass-media representatives of the country. “Through this contest, we intended to show our respect and appreciation for what national mass-media representatives do daily. We want to continue working together with the media, because we want journalists covering the defense and security area to understand what the army really is”, Defense Minister said.

Vitalie Marinuta also pointed out that the development of a good relationship between the Ministry of Defense, as a public institution, and Republic of Moldova citizens, depends mainly on communication with mass-media.

Press Cup is held yearly as part of the Information and Communication Strategy on National Defense and Security and the Ministry of Defense’s Communication Strategy.
