Vitalie Marinuta Attends CIS Defense Ministers’ MeetingChisinau, June 5, 2013 —Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta attends the Meeting of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Defense Ministers held today, in Minsk, Belarus. Vitalie Marinuta will meet with his counterparts from Ukraine and Belarus to discuss some aspects of bilateral cooperation between defense institutions. Thus, the agenda of the meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Pavel Lebedev will focus on the organization of bilateral peacekeeping exercises that will be held in July, at “Moldova” Brigade in Balti. The talks of the Moldovan Defense Minister and his Belarus counterpart, Iuri Jadobin, will be based on some cooperation projects and enhancement of bilateral cooperation in different areas. CIS Defense Ministers met with Belarus President, Alexandr Lukasenko. The officials discussed issues of regional and European security. The meeting of CIS Defense Ministers is held within June Republic of Moldova delegation attends the meeting as an observer and will not sign any document highlighted in the Summit agenda. CIS Defense Ministers’ meeting brought together delegations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Republic of Moldova. |
