„Joint Combined Exercise Training 2013” Starts

CHISINAU, June 7, 2013 — Over 60 Moldovan and American servicemembers attended the opening ceremony of a Special Forces exercise, held at Moldova Brigade from Balti. The event brought together officials from both militaries.

“Joint Combined Exercise Training 2013” is held for third year in row. It comprises 50 servicemembers of Fulger Special Forces Battalion and 12 soldiers of the US 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

Maj. Sergiu Cirimpei, Commander of Fulger Special Forces Battalion, the final goal of the exercise is to enhance physical combat readiness and command skills, train Special Forces soldiers, advanced shooting, practice infiltration into the enemy’s rear, make combined parachute jumps together with US soldiers, plan and carry out special missions, as well as share combat experience with the US Special Forces group.

The exercise program consists of special research trainings, medical-military training, use of radio communication systems and an overview of each Special Forces soldier’s responsibilities and duties. Servicemembers of the Special Forces Battalion will also hold meetings with their American comrades on some particular Special Forces readiness issues.

Such exercises raise Special Forces Battalion staff readiness, as well as the level of professionalism of their American comrades. The event significantly contributes to establishing an ongoing partnership. It also enhances interoperability within exercises or missions outside the country.

“Joint Combined Exercise Training 2013” will be held within June 10-27, 2013.
