Cosnita Peacekeepers Win Peacekeeping Forces’ Cup

Chisinau, June 26, 2013 — The team of the Peacekeeping Forces (PF) third battalion from Cosnita won for the second year in a row the Peacekeeping Forces’ Cup, held at summer camp “Prietenia” in Cosnita, Dubasari.The first Peacekeeping Batallion from Cocieri won the second place, followed by the Independent Infantry Company from Varnita, that won the third place.

This year, the competition, conducted by the Peacekeeping Forces Command, along with the District Council of Dubasari, brought together about 100 servicemembers.

The participants competed at the following contests: pull-ups, weightlifting, rope pulling, volleyball and mini-football.

According to Col. Veaceslav Birca, Commander of PF Military Contingent of the National Army Main Staff, such competitions are held yearly and are popular among peacekeepers. This kind of competitions highlight the National Army servicemembers’ physical condition and level of knowledge. Certainly, Peacekeeping Forces’ Cup will become more popular and promote the spirit of comradeship and healthy lifestyle among peacekeepers". Col. Birca said.

This is the 21^st edition of the “Peacekeeping Forces’ Cup” that aims at promoting military-patriotic education in the society.
