Graduates of Military Academy "Alexandru cel Bun" Receive Their Diplomas (Video)



 

Chisinau, June 30, 2013 — The graduates of Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” (MAAF) received today their diplomas and the rank of “Lieutenant” within a ceremony held at Palatul Republicii in Chisinau.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca highlighted the value of the officer’s profession in the improvement of the defense and security system of the Republic of Moldova. “Officers have always been an example of devotion to motherland and people. I am confident that, with these virtues and high quality professional training, received at MAAF, the future of the Republic of Moldova is in good hands. You are to be employed in the modernization process of the country and contribute to the positive changes in the security system”, Iurie Leanca told the graduates.

The Prime Minister expressed his confidence that the professional training young graduates have been obtained during the four years of study will significantly contribute to the improvement of the National Army’s image in the country and abroad. “A European army begins with an officer with European training level and thinking. Certainly, the National Army is expected to become even more professional and increase its capacity to participate in international peacekeeping efforts”, Iurie Leanca said.

Commander of MAAF, Col. Mihail Buclis, stated that the job of the military requires high responsibility and committment to citizens of the country. “Love for country is our supreme law, a Latin proverb says. Remember that being an officer requires duty, honesty, honor, dignity and care for subordinates in your daily service”, Col. Buclis told the young graduates.

During the ceremony, five best graduates -Vadim Birca (infantry), Roman Bocicariov (artillery), Nicolae Stavita (communications), Serghei Bobeico (border police) and Anatolie Gisca (carabineers) — received the Honors Servicemember insignia. The event was attended by State officials, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and Main Staff of the National Army, defense attachés in Republic of Moldova, as well as students and their relatives.

The 2013 class has 124 graduates at five specialties: infantry — 25, artillery −18, communications — 24, border police — 32 and carabineers — 25. 67 of them are prepared for the National Army. At the end of their studies, graduates are conferred the military rank of “Lieutenant” and are guaranteed job in one of the military units of the National Army.

During 1995-2013, the military institution prepared officers at the following specialities: infantry, artillery, communications, border guards and carabineers.

Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” is a member of the Partnership for Peace Consortium, and it has two faculties: military science and public administration. The institution also has a center of defense and security strategic studies, a continuous training center and a Language Learning Center.

Duration of studies at MAAF is four years. Accommodation, food and military equipment for students are free of charge.
