CSCA Sportsmen Win Gold and Bronze Medals at European Taekwondo Championship



CHISINAU, July 19, 2013 — Sportsmen of the Central Sports Club of the Army (CSCA) won three gold and four bronze medals at the European Taekwondo Championship ITF, held in Barcelona, Spain.

According to the Head of CSCA, Col. Andrei Catlabuga, CSCA representatives — Victor Culeac and Petru Cotoman — won gold medals at sparring individual competition. Lilia Mircea won the bronze medal at the same category. Sportsman Nicolae Capatina won the third place at breaking competition.

The quoted source said that two sportsmen of the club successfully competed for the European Cup belts, held within the Championship, where they won one gold medal and two bronze medals. “CSCA sportswoman, Ruxandra Trofin, was awarded gold medal at sparring and bronze at Tull category. At the same time, sportsman Maxim Tabaev won the third place at sparring”, Col. Catlabuga said.

The Head of CSCA also stated that three representatives of the club — Victor Culeac, Petru Cotoman and Nicolae Capatina — competed at team sparring within the Moldovan team, which won the first place at sparring and special technique and third place at kyok-pa, breaking competition.

The European Taekwondo Championship ITF was held during July 10-17 and brought together over 300 sportsmen from 16 countries of the world. This famous competition is conducted once in two years. Republic of Moldova was represented at this championship by 17 sportsmen, including 9 CSCA members.
