European Experts Visit Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, October 3, 2013 — Republic of Moldova, as a member of world community, does its best to strengthen international security. Thus, our country applied for encouraging European crisis management missions, the Chief of National Army Main Staff, National Army Commander, Col. Igor Gorgan, said at the meeting with the EU military political expert group, that visited Republic of Moldova within October
Col. Igor Gorgan stated that, to achieve this goal, the National Army started in 2010 an internal evaluation process in order to identify means of Republic of Moldova’s participation in EU-led crisis management operations.
The representatives of the European delegation appreciated our country’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the world, thus enhancing the effectiveness and flexibility of the crisis management process.
According to the interim Head of Strategic Planning Directorate, Col. Grigore Chirica, the European experts were informed about the National Army’s achievements in the security area, Moldovan servicemembers’ experience in regional and international missions, as well as the legislation on Republic of Moldova’s participation in EU crisis management operations.
The source specified that the group of EU experts consists of representatives of European Union member states in charge of political-military aspects of the EU Common Security and Defense Policy.
