National Army Special Forces Mark 21st Anniversary
Chisinau, November 9, 2013 — Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” marked the 21st anniversary within a ceremony held at Military Compound 142.
Defense Minister, Vitalie Marinuta, appreciated the courage and commitment of “Fulger” servicemembers in fulfilling their missions. “By actively participating at national and international exercises, you prove that you are well-trained, have a high combat readiness and prepared to face new challenges. You are a model of professionalism and I advise you to keep on training, hard in order to record new performances in the future”, Minister Marinuta stated.
The Defense Minister conferred ranks and awarded the “Cross of Merit”, class III, as well as diplomas to a group of soldiers, for professionalism and excellent fulfillment of service duties. At the same time, 6 servicemembers, graduates of the “Special Forces Qualification Course”, received the Special Forces name plate and the Green Beret.
Commander of Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”, Maj. Sergiu Cirimpei, pointed out the rich experience of the unit servicemembers, gathered at national and international exercises throughout 21 years of participation. “For us, the exchange of experience and the high-quality professional development are a priority. We are proud of the performances recorded at the multinational exercises in Ukraine, Germany, Romania, as well as at training courses in specialized institutions from abroad”, Maj. Cirimpei said.
The source specified that, this year, Battalion “Fulger” soldiers made 600 parachute jumps, along with their comrades from Ukraine, Poland, Romania and USA.
The anniversary ceremony program included weapon-handling and wrestling exercises, special tactics, climbing and fire demonstrations. Moreover, the guests of the event had the opportunity to see the infrastructure, the training ground, the military technical equipment, weapons and the patrimony of the unit.
Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” was established in November 1992.
