Defense Attaches Visit Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, November 18, 2013 — Deputy Defense Minister, Ana Vasilachi, and the Chief of Main Staff, Commander of the National Army, Col. Igor Gorgan, met today with a group of defense attaches accredited to Republic of Moldova, based in Kiev and Bucharest.

During the meetings with the defense attaches of Japan, Austria, Hungary, Sweden and Turkey, Ana Vasilachi and Igor Gorgan informed the five military officials on the priorities of the Ministry’s of Defense and National Army Main Staff’s agenda, as well as the current defense reform process.

The agenda also included the bilateral cooperation between the National Army of the Republic of Moldova and the militaries of Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Japan and the Kingdom of Sweden. The Moldovan officials thanked for the multilateral assistance provided to our country, that will certainly contribute to the development of the Moldovan defense institution.

The military attaches congratulated the Moldovan officials on their recent assignment. They also appreciated the reforms carried out within the Moldovan army and promised to keep supporting the National Army in terms of modernization and reform.

The visit of defense attaches to Republic of Moldova based in Kiev and Bucharest — Col. Masatoshi Kuroda, Japan, Col. Josef Hölzl, Austria, Col. Hakan Hedström, Sweden, Col. Istvan Toth, Hungary, and Col. Şamil Türk Özkan, Turkey — is a two-day familiarization event.
