Prevention of Corruption Reviewed in the National Army

Chisinau, November 21, 2013 — Corruption and its prevention were the basic issues discussed, as part of a workshop, held within November 11-15, at the Ministry of Defense. The event brought together National Army servicemembers and representatives of the National Anti-corruption Center.

According to Col. Victor Pirtina, Chief of the Section on combating corruption and protectionism, General Inspection Department, the participants familiarized with patterns of corruption, liability for corruption, conflicts of interest, whistle blower protection and the system of symbolic gifts, made within different protocol events.

The source specified that the event is part of 2011-2015 National Anticorruption Strategy. The meeting brought together 70 representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Main Staff of the National Army, military units from Chisinau garrison and Military Municipal Center, that deal with personnel issues.

In 2014, similar workshops will be conducted in Balti and Cahul garrisons.
