National Army Supports Disabled Children



Chisinau, December 3, 2013 — National Army servicemembers marked today the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, by supporting disabled children and pupils.

The servicemembers attended the Christmas Fair held in Casa Guvernului (Government House), where from they bought objects made of wood, souvenirs, Christmas decorations, cards made ​​by children and adults with special needs. The event was conducted by the Government Committee on Disability Issues, Children’s Rights National Council, International Disability Alliance, in partnering with UNDP and UNICEF.

The Head of Personnel Division, National Army Main Staff, Col. Eduard Ohladciuc, shared sweets and school supplies to 106 pupils from the Highschool for Children with Low Vision from Chisinau.

The same day, Deputy Defense Minister, Ana Vasilachi, visited three military and civil families of the National Army raising children with special needs and gave them per 1000 MDL.

This year, the Ministry of Defense provided financial aid of 1000 MDL to 37 families raising children with special needs. These actions are part of the National Army Social Care Action Program.
