Bulgarian Ambassador Visits Ministry of Defense at the End of Mandate



Chisinau, December 30, 2013 — Defense Minister, Vitalie Marinuta, met at the Ministry of Defense with the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Chisinau, George Panaiatov, on the conclusion of the official’s mandate in the Republic of Moldova.

Vitalie Marinuta congratulated George Panaiatov on the successful performance as a Bulgarian ambassador to Moldova and wished him success in his diplomatic career.

The Minister of Defense stated that Bulgaria, as a NATO contact embassy for Republic of Moldova, demonstrated good performance, by implementing projects that had a beneficial impact on the environment and citizens’ health and caused a better understanding of NATO.

“NATO/PfP project on the disposal of dangerous pesticides and chemicals, implemented in our country, the documentation visits, scientific events, workshops, carried out with the involvement of NATO representatives to Chisinau and Brussels, assumed a personal engagement of the embassy’s staff. Thank you on my behalf and on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova for your contribution to these projects,” Vitalie Marinuta said.

The officials also discussed the current bilateral defense relations and agreed on the further development of this area.

George Panaiatov stated that being an Ambassador of Bulgaria to Republic of Moldova was an honor for him and his country will keep supporting Republic of Moldova’s European integration goal.

“I am optimistic about the European future of Republic of Moldova. Your country can count on Bulgarias’ support in the implementation of reforms, including the military ones” ,George Panaiatov pointed out.

At the end of the meeting, the officials appreciated the opportunity to exchange opinions about the further development of bilateral relationship between the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria, mainly focusing on the defense area as a priority of interstate cooperation.

Moldovan-Bulgarian military cooperation is based on the Cooperation Agreement signed between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria on June 15,1995.
