National Army Starts New Training Year


Chisinau, January 9, 2014 — The professional development of the National Army and the development of peacekeeping capabilities are the priorities for the military training year of 2014. The goals were stated by the Chief of the Main Staff, National Army Commander, Col. IgorGorgan, within a meeting with the decision-making factors of the National Army.

According to Col. Igor Gorgan, this year, the military institution’s activity will focus on enhancing the Moldovan servicemember’s participation in exercises abroad, as well as the professional training of personnel in compliance with the international standards.

Col.Gorgan pointed out that the army leadership will focus their attention on the renovation of Bulboaca Military Training Ground, with the money provided by the US Government within the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI). In this way, the servicemembers will have all the necessary conditions for training, efficient combat readiness and development of peacekeeping capabilities.

The National Army Commander specified that in 2014, the National Army contingents will participate at multinational exercises in Germany, Romania, Ukraine, Sweden and Serbia. At the same time, an important goal is the training of military contingents for the international peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, as part of the Multinational Peacekeeping Force (KFOR).
