Moldovan Servicemembers Leave for Germany



Chisinau, January 24, 2014 — The National Army deployed today a military contingent to the multinational exercise "Mission Readiness Exercise“(MRE), held at Hohenfels Training Area, Germany. The 40 servicemembers from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” will join the National Army contingent, previously deployed to Hohenfels.

The acting Chief of Main Staff, Commander of the National Army, Col.Vadim Cemirtan, inspected the military contingent before their departure, wishing them success in the exercise. “I am sure about your high performance at this exercise, in Germany. You trained hard on the training fields within other multinational exercises, where you demonstrated professionalism and high achievements”, Col. Cemirtan said.

According to the Commander of the Moldovan contingent. Maj. Igor Antoci, the Moldovan troops will carry out patrol, convoy, transportation and support missions, along with other servicemembers from USA, Romania, Georgia and Bulgaria. The goal of the exercise is to evaluate the military readiness for the rotation of troops within international missions.

“Mission Readiness Exercise”, held within January 14 — February 26, is conducted by the European Command of the US Marine Corps. The National Army deployed 75 professional servicemembers to this exercise.
