Poland and Republic of Moldova to Boost Military Dialogue



Chisinau, February 19, 2014 — Defense Minister, Vitalie Marinata, met with the ambassador of Poland to Republic of Moldova, Artur Michalski. The event was also attended by the Poland defense attaché in our country, Col. Jan Mysczynski.

The officials discussed about the current bilateral relations between Republic of Moldova and Poland in the defense area and future perspectives of cooperation between the two armies, as well as the identification of the necessary mechanisms for a more dynamic cooperation in the future.

Vitalie Marinuta thanked ambassador Michalski for the provided support to the National Army, defense and security sector and for supporting Republic of Moldova stay on the European course. 2014 is a crucial year for us and we are glad that in our way to democratization and modernization, we are supported by Poland, which is a devoted partner supporting the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the Eurpean Union“, Defense Minister said.

Artur Michalski stated that Poland is ready to enhance the Moldovan-Polish dialogue in the defense area. “We are trying to identify areas, like logistics, that need our support. The Polish Army could provide the National Army with equipment, as well as military technical means”, ambassador Michalski stated.

The Moldovan-Polish defense cooperation agreement was signed on October 27, 1998, in Warsaw.
