Transfer of Authority at the Ministry of Defense

Chisinau, March 3, 2014 — The authority transfer ceremony of ex-Minister of Defense, Vitalie Marinuta, to Deputy Minister of Defense, Igor Panfile, was held today at the Ministry of Defense.

The ceremony brought together senior officers of the National Army Main Staff, Ministry of Defense and commanders of military units.

Vitalie Marinuta thanked the entire staff of the ministry and his colleagues from the National Army for the support provided throughout the tenure as Defense Minister and expressed his hope that all the modernization actions and projects carried out over the past few years would continue. “You are a strong team, you have a goal: to finish the reforms and maintain Moldovan citizens’ confidence in the defense institution of the country”, Vitalie Marinuta said.

Deputy Minister of Defense, Igor Panfile, stated that Vitalie Marinuta had a crucial contribution to the security system development, being an example to follow for everyone who knows him and worked with him.

Vitalie Marinuta resigned on February 28. He held the position of Minister of Defense since September 25, 2009.
