Servicemembers Study Management of Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile



Chisinau, March 6, 2014 — About 20 National Army servicemembers attend, within March 5-23, the course “Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile Management”, held at the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”.

According to Deputy Chief of National Army Main Staff for Resource Management, Col. Andrei Sarban, the training is conducted by a group of international experts from Austria, Sweden, Canada, Switzerland, and aims at enhancing the knowledge of heads of ammunition and weapons storehouses. “The servicemembers will study the ammunition packaging technology and, weapons classification principles, threats and compatibility groups, characteristics of small- and large-caliber ammunition, signal, illumination and smoke ammunition”, Col. Sarban specified.

The quoted source pointed out that this is the first stage of the project of the special course “Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile Management” based on the Memorandum between the Ministry of Defense and OSCE regarding the implementation of the Complex Program on Small Arms and Light Weapons, signed on October 28, 2010, in Republic of Moldova.

The project will be carried out until 2017.
