National Army Soldier Injured by His Service Weapon


Chisinau, March 13, 2014 — A servicemember of the National Army injured himself with his service weapon while on duty.

The soldier, that served in the Peacekeeping Forces, shot himself on Thursday, March 13, at 1:45 a.m.

The servicemember has been given first medical aid immediately after the incident. He was transported to the National Scientific-Practical Centre of Emergency Medicine (NSPCEM)

from Chisinau and operated on. Now, the soldier’s condition is critical.

The servicemember was drafted into military service of the National Army in March 2013. In June 2013, he joined the 3rd Independent Infantry Battalion of Cosnita Peacekeeping Forces (PF) from Dubasari.

The Military Prosecutor’s Office carries out an investigation on this casualty. At the same time, a Special Commission of the National Army studies the circumstances of the incident.
