National Army Marks Earth Hour
Chisinau, March 30, 2014 — The military units and the Ministry’s of Defense institutions turned off the lights, on Saturday, March 31, for one hour to join the international community within Earth Hour campaign.
Aurel Vleju, officer within the Department of Ecology and Environment Protection, Logistics Command, stated that the lights turned off from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in all the military units and MoD institutions. The leadership of the Ministry of Defense also encouraged servicemembers to turn off their lights at home and join world community.
The quoted source specified that the National Army servicemembers joined the event held today at the Botanical Garden from Chisinau. Students of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces, along with Guard Battalion, created a live picture “60+Moldova 2014”. Also, the Presidential Orchestra of Chisinau garrison performed for the audience and the military students treated all the participants of Earth Hour 2014 world event to tea.
Every year, on the last Saturday of March, world community marks the Earth Hour, to contribute to saving the environment . Republic of Moldova joined this international ecological event in 2008.
