Defense Minister and Romanian Ambassador Discuss Military Cooperation Aspects



Chisinau, April 10, 2014 — Defense Minister, Valeriu Troenco, met with Marius Lazurca, Romanian ambassador to Republic of Moldova, at the Ministry of Defense.

The officials discussed aspects of Moldovan-Romanian defense cooperation and possibilities to reinforce the bilateral agenda by identifying and carrying out new projects in this area.

“The Ministry of Defense appreciates the support provided to the National Army on behalf of your country. The servicemembers’ professional training, the defense system modernization activities conducted in various formats, as well as activities of commemoration of fallen soldiers are just a few areas the Moldovan defense institution benefited from your support”, Valeriu Troenco said.

The Minister of Defense expressed his confidence that the Romanian country will continue supporting the modernization of the defense area in the Republic of Moldova.

Marius Lazurca stated that, over the past two years, Romania and Republic of Moldova established strong cooperation relationship. “Romania is ready to support Republic of Moldova from now on too through effective bilateral activities and projects”, the Romanian ambassador stated.

The first Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Defense of Republic of Moldova and National Defense Ministry of Romania was signed on December 14, 1992.
