Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta's message on the Memory Day

"Dear participants in the war to defend Republic of Moldova territorial integrity and independence,

The commemoration of March 2 is a tragic episode in the national history which we should neither keep for ourselves, nor distort, nor decrease its importance.

I assume a self-respecting nation will always honor and remember its historical events and heroes. Thus, March 2 considered the Memory Day of citizens dead in the war to defend Republic of Moldova territorial integrity and independence should make us think over its tragic consequences, the term of patriotism and commitment towards the country and nation we are members of.

By remembering war victims, we express our gratitude towards widows of men dead in war, as well as war survivors. As a Minister of Defense, I assure you war veterans and widows of the dead would always be supported by the Ministry of Defense.

The National Army staff bows before all patriots’ sacrifice, courage and strong-mindedness in those tragic moments. Their acts are a real school of life for the young generation, that currently has all the chance to take over the responsibility of building a strong democratic state.

I bow to heroes of war. May all veterans who sacrificed their life to defend Republic of Moldova territory and independence live in peace, be healthy and successful from now on".
