Presidential Orchestra Celebrates 22nd Anniversary



Chisinau, November 7, 2014 — The Presidential Orchestra of Republic of Moldova celebrated the 22nd anniversary, within a ceremony held at Military Compound142.

Defense Minister Valeriu Troenco congratulated the orchestra’s staff and veterans and appreciated the performance of the band at a number of national and international festivals. “Presidential Orchestra is considered to be a highly-appreciated unit of the Moldovan National Army, where future honored artists are born. It is a school of instrumentalists and vocalists that make our country known abroad”, Valeriu Troenco said.

The Minister of Defense conferred ranks and awarded medals — “Cross of Merit”, class III, “Distinguished Service” Cross, class III and “Good Conduct Medal” class II, to a group of officers and NCOs of the Presidential Orchestra.

According to LTC Sergiu Holban, Head of Military Orchestral Service of the National Army, throughout 22 years of activity, the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova comprising 75 military and 35 civil musicians performed at different international festivals in Germany, Russia, Belgium and Romania.

The Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova, founded on November 7, 1992, accompanies welcome ceremonies of foreign officials and delegations, participates at the accreditation ceremonies of ambassadors, military parades and other solemn events. The Orchestra performs within festivals, charity concerts, inauguration of monuments, military exercises, saluting and wreath laying ceremonies.
