Servicemembers Participate at National Afforestation Day
Chisinau, November 15, 2014 — Over 1,100 servicemembers and civilians of the National Army planted about 1,900 trees and bushes on the National Afforestation Day.
According to 1st LT RuslanVolosciuc, specialist, Ecological Service, the servicemembers of Chisinau Garrison, including the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and Main Staff of the National Army, planted more than 600 trees in the 123rd Military Compound and Telecentru district of the capital city.
The same day,"Alexandru cel Bun" Military Academy of the Armed Forces staff planted about 80 trees on Calea Basarabiei highway.
The quoted source also added that 1,300 other trees were planted by the servicemembers of Balti, Cahul, Causeni, Marculesti and Ungheni garrisons, as well as those from military administrative sections and military recruitment agencies. The military staff also cleaned the territory in the neighborhood of their military units.
Since 1995, the National Army servicemembers have planted 75 thousand trees and bushes throughout the country.
