Winners of National Army Weightlifting Championship awarded

CHISINAU, March 16, 2011 - After a five-year break, the National Army Weightlifting Championship opened again awarding the best servicemen.

According to Maj. Vasile Olednic, Chief of Physical Training and Sports Service of the National Army, the competition brought together over 70 servicemen representing 12 teams of military units. They competed for six weight categories - 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85 and 90 kilograms.

Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy of the Armed Forces won the first place, followed by Fulger Special Purpose Battalion and Moldova Light Brigade servicemen.

Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, Commander of Land Force Command, appreciated the competition and the participants’ level of preparedness. Brigadier Gen. Cutie stated such events should go on, for they show servicemen’s physical power.
