New Post Graduate Course at the Military Academy

CHISINAU, January 20, 2015 — For the first time, the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” launched the Postgraduate Course on Strategic and Tactical Command, within a ceremony held at the institution’s headquarters. The course aims to prepare specialists on tactical and strategic level for positions such as brigade commander, chief of directorates in the National Army Main Staff, as well as Special Forces commanders of tactical and strategic level.

At the opening ceremony, Chief of General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, stated that this course will help service members to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and, in future, to improve the National Army leadership area, depending on their position.

According to Commander-rector of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”, Col. Mihail Buclis, the course is based on War Colleges programs from partnership countries and is similar to postgraduate studies of tactical and strategic level.

The source specified that the course is designed for senior officers with LTC rank, who are to be given the rank of colonel and promoted to positions of brigade commander, chief of directorate in the National Army Main Staff (during peacetime) and of commander, chief of general staff and chief of department of special forces staff of tactical and strategic level (during wartime).

The training process will include map exercises and studies, the familiarization with the national territory in terms of military geography and strategy, organization and command of subordinate staff, and methodology of troops’ daily activities.

According to Col. Buclis, the Postgraduate Course on Strategic and Tactical Command will be attended by 12 officers and will be conducted within January 19 — May 15, 2015.
