President Nicolae Timofti Presents New Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, to Ministry’s Officers and Employees

CHISINAU, February 19, 2015 — President of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, visited today, February 19, the Ministry of Defense, to present the new Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, to the officers and employees of the institution.

The Head of the State appreciated the professional skills of Viorel Cibotaru and expressed his conviction that the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense will be able to ensure our country’s sovereignty and integrity in the context of the difficult regional situation.

President Nicolae Timofti thanked the former Minister, Valeriu Troenco, for his actions directed to the transformation of the Armed Forces into a modern military structure, ready to face all the challenges to our state security.

President Nicolae Timofti handed over Viorel Cibotaru the Standard of Ministry of Defense, established by Presidential Decree on June 17, 2014. The President handed a copy of the Standard to the former Minister, Valeriu Troenco.
