Minister of Defense Meets with US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova
CHISINAU, March 6, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, met today with the Ambassador of the USA to the Republic of Moldova, James D. Pettit.
The discussions were centered on bilateral cooperation between the two armies and how to identify new projects leading to the reinforcement of the defense partnership program.
The Minister of Defense thanked the American Government for the assistance offered to the National Army through various programs, including the education and training sector, logistics, and military facilities renovation.
James D. Pettit congratulated Viorel Cibotaru on his appointment as Minister of Defense. The Ambassador stated that the USA will continue to support the defense and security reformation through new projects and programs aimed to offer training to the Moldovan service members and logistics supply to the National Army units.
The Moldovan-American defense cooperation is based on the Memorandum “Regarding the cooperation in the military area” signed by the Ministry of Defense of Republic of Moldova and the US Department of Defense, on December 4, 1995.
