Respect for National Army Women
CHISINAU, March 6, 2015 — Today, the Center of Military History and Culture hosted a concert on International Women’s Day.
Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, awarded National Army medals and merit diplomas to a group of women. The Minister stated that the National Army of the Republic of Moldova offers women real chances to embrace a military career and to succeed in the areas where few are able to.

Currently, 25% of the army’s staff is represented by women with ranks from soldier to colonel. The women are present in all the military units having important jobs, including command positions”, said the Minister of Defense.
Viorel Cibotaru congratulated the ladies, military and civil employees of the army, for their perseverance and courage in the everyday activity on military grounds, hospital wards, and peacekeeping missions.
The concert at the Center of Military History and Culture comprised performances of the Presidential orchestra, “Doina Armatei” folk band, vocal-instrumental band of the National Army, as well as other singers from the Republic of Moldova.
25% of the National Army staff are women. They work in the fields of medicine, communications, law, logistics, accountancy, topography, and public relations.
