Moldovan-Ukrainian Military Cooperation Discussed at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, March 12, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, and Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, met today with Ghenadii Altuhov, charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine to Chisinau. The event was also attended by the military attaché, Col. Igor Olefirenco.

Viorel Cibotaru informed the Ukrainian official about the agenda and priorities of the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense, pointing out their importance for the modernization of the defense and security sector of the Republic of Moldova.

Some subjects of the discussion were also related to the military cooperation between the armies of the two countries.

The officials agreed on the consolidation of the Moldovan-Ukrainian dialogue, as well as on starting new projects centered on the experience exchange in the defense and security sector.

The Moldovan-Ukrainian military cooperation is based on the Cooperation Agreement signed between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldovan and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on February 19, 1993.
