Security and Defense Sector Discussed at the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, March 16, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, met today at the institution HQ, with Jakob Hedenskog, representative of the Swedish Defense Research Agency.

Viorel Cibotaru informed the Swedish official about the priorities of the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense in the security and defense sector, putting the stress on the review of strategic documents to meet the current requirements.

“To increase the budget for the Ministry of Defense, to make military service more attractive, also by reintroducing the social package, to expand the participation in peacekeeping missions, and to diversify the cooperation with the foreign partners are some of the goals we established”, said Viorel Cibotaru.

Jakob Hedenskog congratulated the Minister of Defense on his appointment and wished him success in his mandate.
