President Nicolae Timofti Holds Working Meeting with Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, and Chief of Main Staff, Gen. Igor Gorgan

Today, April 14, President of the Republic of Moldova, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Nicolae Timofti, had a working meeting with Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, and Chief of Main Staff, Gen. Igor Gorgan.

Minister Viorel Cibotaru informed the Head of the State about the plans for the Armed Forces development.

Gen. Igor Gorgan gave the President an account of the organization of the tactical exercise “Northern Shield 2015”, planned for April. The exercise is expected to include combat shooting drills to test the readiness, organization, and internal communication of the military staff. Another goal of “Northern Shield 2015” is the inspection of the vehicles and weapons, as well as of the potential and maneuver abilities of the artillery and its cooperation with the combat forces.

President Nicolae Timofti requested from the leaders of the Ministry of Defense to strengthen Armed Forces capabilities. Also, the Head of the State ordered the National Army leadership to carry out public events, without military vehicles, to mark the National Flag and State Coat of Arms Day.
