Sweden Appoints New Military Attaché to Republic of MoldovaCHISINAU, July 17, 2015 — Today, the new military attaché of the Kingdom of Sweden to Republic of Moldova based in Kiev, LTC Peter Liden, was presented to Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, during a meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters. The former Swedish defense attaché, Col. Hakan Hedstrom, also attended the meeting. Viorel Cibotaru congratulated LTC Peter Liden on his appointment. The Minister expressed his confidence that the experience and professionalism of the new attaché will strengthen the dialogue between the National Army and the Swedish army. The new Swedish defense attaché mentioned that he will make every effort to successfully continue the projects started by his predecessor and implement new reforms that will support the development of our country’s defense sector. LTC Peter Liden graduated from the Naval Academy of Karlskrona, Sweden, artillery specialty. Previously, he was a Main Staff officer and a Commander in the Swedish Armed Forces, as well as in international missions in Kosovo and Somalia. So far, Sweden offered Republic of Moldova assistance in professional training of servicemembers, in logistics, as well as shared expertise in defense capacity building.
