Missions Carried Out by KFOR 3 Contingent



CHISINAU, August 5, 2015 — In July, the National Army contingent deployed to KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo carried out patrol and EOD search missions.

According to contingent’s Commander, Maj. Ianac Deli, the patrol missions were conducted near Decane Monastery, while guard and defense missions were carried out at “CampVillaggio Italia” military base. The EOD engineers inspected the surroundings of “Mokra Gora” mountain, on the administrative border line between Kosovo and Serbia.

During the same period, the Moldovan servicemembers, together with engineers from other contingents, trained on crowd control missions involving helicopters and other special vehicles to diminish obstacles. Also, they attended a training course on first aid and different methods of helicopter evacuation of the wounded.

KFOR-3 contingent was deployed to Kosovo on June 6, 2015. It consists of 41 servicemembers out of which an infantry platoon of 33 servicemembers, 7 EOD engineers, and one staff officer.

Republic of Moldova has been contributing troops to KFOR mission since March 8, 2014.
