National Army Deploys Military Vehicles at “Sea Breeze 2015” for First Time (video)

CHISINAU, August 28, 2015 — The participation of the National Army in international peacekeeping missions is one of my main goals as Minister of Defense. The achievement of this goal depends on the servicemembers’ level of training gained on military training sites and in multinational exercises organized in Moldova and abroad.

The statement was made by Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, during the deployment ceremony of a National Army contingent to “Sea Breeze 2015” exercise in Ukraine.

During the event held at the Ministry of Defense, Anatol Salaru encouraged the Moldovan servicemembers leaving for the exercise to show excellent performance and prove that the National Army is a reliable, modern, and European army.

Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, specified that, this year, at the exercise, the Moldovan contingent will contribute for the first time 17 vehicles of the National Army, out of which 14 HMMWVs.

“Sea Breeze” is a peacekeeping multinational exercise in the spirit of the partnership for peace. The National Army has been participating at the exercise since 2007. This year, the participants are from Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Great Britain, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Sweden, USA, Turkey, and Ukraine.

The multinational exercise “Sea Breeze 2015” is organized within August 30-September 12 in Ukraine. The National Army contingent consisting of 102 servicemembers from “Dacia” Brigade and the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion will be dislocated at “Sirokii Lan” Training Center from Nicolaev region.
