National Army Servicemembers Trained on Chemical Testing of AmmunitionCHISINAU, September 9, 2015 — A group of National Army servicemembers participate at an “Management of Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile” Advanced Course within September The event is organized by the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with OSCE Mission to Republic of Moldova, and will be held at the National Army training base and ammunition storage depot of “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade. According to LTC Andrei Camerzan, Head of the Weapons and Military Vehicles Management Department of the Logistics Directorate, during the course, 11 officers and NCOs will be trained by experts from Austria, Germany, and Sweden on the chemical testing of ammunition from National Army depots. This will include studying the different processes of ammunition artificial ageing, and analyzing their stability. The source said that the students will also learn how to use a mobile mini-laboratory for chemical testing that has got tools and devices for determining the ammunition condition. LTC Camerzan added that, during the course, a technical guide on ammunition management will be developed. The guide will be subsequently used in training Moldovan servicemembers. The “Management of Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile” Course is held under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense and OSCE regarding the implementation of the Complex Program on Small Arms and Light Weapons and conventional weapons in Republic of Moldova, signed on October 28, 2010. |
