Graduates of the Advanced Ammunition Course Receive Diplomas



CHISINAU, September 25, 2015 — The “Management of Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile” Advanced Course ended today at the National Army military training base. Thus, an official ceremony was organized at Bulboaca, where the participants received their graduation diplomas.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, representatives of the National Army Main Staff, and OSCE mission to Republic of Moldova, as well as experts from Austria, Sweden, and Germany.

During the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Defense, Alexandru Cimbriciuc, stated that such courses train the Moldovan servicemembers on efficient testing and management of weapons and ammunition stocked in National Army depots. Alexandru Cimbriciuc said that in such way they can contribute to the safety and security of the responsible staff, as well as people that live near the depots.

Acting Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Steve Young, appreciated the cooperation between Ministry of Defense, Moldovan servicemembers, and foreign experts, who made considerable efforts on successfully planning and organizing a course of this kind. “Once Republic of Moldova remains committed to this coursethrough the National Army, the OSCE mission will remain committed to providing as much support, training and expertise as possible”, stated Steve Young.

Commander of Austrian Armed Forces Logistics School, Brigadier Gen. Dieter Jocham, appreciated the activity of the graduates of the advanced ammunition course, as well as the efforts made by the international trainers.

According to LTC Andrei Camerzan, Head of the Weapons and Military Vehicles Management Department of the Logistics Directorate, a Logistics Handbook on Ammunition Management was presented during the ceremony. The manual was developed during the course and was handed to the Deputy Defense Minister, Alexandru Cimbriciuc, by the Commander of SWEDEC (Swedish EOD and Demining Centre), Col. Ronnie Nilsson. Also, the Moldovan servicemembers demonstrated different chemical testing techniques taught by experts from Austria, Germany, and Sweden.

The “Management of Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile” Advanced Course was organized by the Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with OSCE mission to Republic of Moldova, and was held within September 9-25.

The event is part of a training project on ammunition and weapons stockpile management and is conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense and OSCE regarding the implementation of the Complex Program on Small Arms and Light Weapons and conventional weapons in Republic of Moldova, signed on October 28, 2010.
